Description
The Forest Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily forestry operations, including harvesting, reforestation, road maintenance, land management, and resource protection activities. This role ensures that forestry projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations, sustainable forestry practices, and company objectives. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise and coordinate forestry operations, including timber harvesting, site preparation, reforestation, and forest maintenance activities. - Monitor field crews, contractors, and equipment operators to ensure productivity and adherence to operational plans. - Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, forestry laws, safety standards, and company policies. - Conduct field inspections to assess operational performance, site conditions, and environmental impacts. - Coordinate harvesting schedules, transportation logistics, and resource allocation to meet production targets. - Oversee forest road construction, maintenance, and access management activities. - Monitor forest health and support initiatives related to fire prevention, pest management, and disease control. - Maintain accurate operational records, production reports, inventory data, and compliance documentation. - Assist in the implementation of sustainable forest management practices and conservation programs. - Investigate and address operational issues, safety incidents, and environmental concerns. - Coordinate with government agencies, landowners, contractors, and internal stakeholders as required. - Support budgeting, cost control, and operational planning activities. - Train, mentor, and evaluate forestry personnel to promote workforce development and secure work practices. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Forest Management, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field. - Proven experience in forestry operations, timber harvesting, or natural resource management. - Strong knowledge of forestry regulations, sustainable forest management principles, and environmental compliance requirements. - Experience supervising field crews, contractors, or forestry operations teams. - Knowledge of logging equipment, forest road systems, and harvesting methods. - Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Excellent communication and organizational abilities. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and forestry management software. - Ability to work in remote locations and varying outdoor conditions.
