Description
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees of the treatment centre using Sage 50 accounting and payroll software. This role ensures compliance with FNHA requirements, employment legislation, and organizational policies, and supports organizational stability through accurate records, responsive communication, and strong internal controls. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing & Administration: - Process regular payroll cycles including wages, overtime, allowances, statutory deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings using Sage 50. - Process exception time including unpaid leaves, sick time, vacation, overtime, and retroactive adjustments. - Track and reconcile employee leave balances; audit time records for accuracy and compliance. Compliance, Reporting & Systems: - Ensure compliance with the Employment Standards Act (BC), CRA requirements, FNHA contribution agreements, and organizational policies. - Prepare and submit Records of Employment (ROEs) and required payroll reports. - Reconcile payroll-related accounts including statutory remittances, benefits, pensions, and union deductions. - Support audits and FNHA reporting with accurate payroll documentation. Communication & Support: - Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and supervisors. - Provide guidance to staff and managers regarding payroll timelines, leave reporting, and pay processes. - Assist with development and improvement of payroll procedures and internal controls. Key Requirements: - Completion of secondary school, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. - Canadian Payroll Association Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is an asset. - Minimum 2 years of experience in a payroll administration role. - Experience processing payroll using Sage 50 or similar accounting/payroll software. - Knowledge of payroll legislation, the Employment Standards Act, payroll accounting, and reconciliations. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. - Experience working with Indigenous organizations or FNHA-funded programs is an asset. - Solid attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, and time-management skills. - Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle. - Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
