About the Role We are seeking an Electronics & Sensor Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation autonomous drone and ISR systems for defense applications. This role focuses on advancing sensing and electronic capabilities in complex, real-world environments where performance, reliability, and innovation are critical. You will contribute to IRAP-supported R&D; projects involving sensor fusion, embedded electronics, and resilient system design working through technical uncertainty to develop novel solutions for aerial platforms. What You’ll Do - Design and develop electronic systems for UAV/UGV platforms, including sensor payloads and onboard processing hardware - Integrate and optimize sensors such as IMUs, GPS/GNSS, EO/IR cameras, LiDAR, and RF modules - Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and prototypes for size, weight, and power (SWaP)-constrained systems - Implement signal conditioning and data acquisition for high-accuracy sensing and navigation - Support sensor fusion and real-time data pipelines in collaboration with firmware/software teams - Conduct testing and validation in lab and field environments (vibration, temperature, EMI/EMC) - Investigate and resolve technical uncertainties related to sensor accuracy, latency, and environmental interference - Document experimental work, design iterations, and results to support IRAP R&D; reporting - Support transition from prototype to ruggedized, deployable systems - Use Solidworks to design and draw schematics. What You Bring - Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field - 3+ years of experience in electronics design and sensor integration - Strong experience with analog/digital circuit design and PCB development - Familiarity with embedded systems and communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) - Experience working with navigation, motion, or imaging sensors - Hands-on debugging and testing skills using lab instrumentation - Ability to solve complex problems in uncertain, rapidly evolving environments Nice to Have - Experience with UAV/UGV/drone systems, robotics, or autonomous platforms - Knowledge of sensor fusion, navigation systems, or control systems - Experience with RF communications or telemetry systems - Familiarity with MIL-STD testing or ruggedized electronics design - Exposure to IRAP or R&D-funded; development programs - Eligibility for security clearance Why Join Us - Build cutting-edge autonomous aerial/ground systems with real-world defense impact - Work on IRAP-funded innovation projects pushing technical boundaries - High-ownership role in a quick-moving, hands-on engineering environment - Opportunity to shape next-generation ISR and sensing technologies Pay: $62,400.00-$83,200.00 per year Benefits: - Dental care - Extended health care - Life insurance - Vision care Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2na7a3
