Senior Mechanical Engineer x2 Permanent Peterborough, Ontario About the Opportunity As a leading supplier of custom, first of a kind equipment, process systems and engineering services for the nuclear industry (globally), we offer complete design services from specification to execution. As part of our growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible, for the design of mechanical systems and/or components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems. What will you do? Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team Perform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standards Prepare clear and concise design reports and technical specifications. Review, approve and seal design reports, technical documentation and drawings Drive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systems Collaborate globally within our clients Engineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialists Support resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and/or components What will you bring? Required: Licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical Engineering) 5+ years of relevant experience Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes Experience in the substantiation of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting/lifting systems, mechanical drive/positioning systems Experience working within 3D CAD systems and with FEA Thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment Preferred: Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment Experience with software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor and ANSYS(FEA) Experience in pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codes Experience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendors Experience with radiological shielding design and/or equipment What Will You Get?
