Come Work with Compass ELC: About the role: At Compass ELC you will work as a Summer Cook Assistant alongside some of the most passionate, caring, and dedicated educators in the industry. You will spend your time supporting the nutrition specialist with cleaning, dishes, planning, prepping, and cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks, in accordance with the Canada Food Guide, Ministry of Education, and Compass Early Learning and Care policies and guidelines. You will model and grow a perspective of equity and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness. Hours will be based on program needs and funding. This -week contract position is hours per week, Monday to Friday and is funded by Canada Summer Jobs Key Responsibilities: Supporting planning, prepping, and cooking nutritious and delicious meals and snacks Maintaining a clean kitchen space. Demonstrating respect for spaces by ensuring the safety and cleanliness of all equipment, dishes, furniture, and materials. Collaborating with the Nutrition Specialist and Educators. Building and maintaining relationships with staff, volunteers, students, community partners, and school staff, including principals, custodians, and teaching teams in shared spaces. Preparing food in consideration of children''s food allergies and sensitivities. Skills and Qualifications: Requirements: Applicants must meet the requirements set out by Canada Summer Jobs. Applicants must be at least years of age. Has experience working in a kitchen workplace. Has experience working in a childcare or summer camp setting. Valid Food Handlers certificate Valid certifications including: Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
