The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 5–8. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontario’s clean energy future. Reporting to the Director, EHS, of OPG Refurbishment Projects, the Occupational Nurse Lead will maintain a team of 2 dayshift and 2 night shift nurses, advise RFBR and TGR line supervisors on various medical, occupational health and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) queries and issues. Maintain, secure, and continuously improve occupational health records, equipment, and programs in accordance with regulatory and confidentiality requirements. Provide on-site first aid services to joint venture personnel in coordination with the client’s site emergency response organization. Assess, evaluate, and treat injuries and illnesses promptly and professionally, within scope of practice and in accordance with clinical nursing guidelines and site procedures. Conduct post-injury and post-illness follow-up with affected personnel to support recovery, ensure appropriate care, and identify the need for further medical evaluation or accommodations. Maintain accurate and complete treatment records and first aid logs in compliance with company policy and legislative requirements. Manage and maintain first aid rooms, cabinets, kits, and response bags, ensuring supplies are stocked, inspected, and compliant with regulatory standards. Track, monitor, and maintain documentation related to modified or restricted duty cases, ensuring consistency with medical recommendations and organizational requirements. Develop and support early and safe return-to-work plans in collaboration with the EHS department, supervisors, and management, ensuring suitable accommodations and clear communication. Promote employee wellness through health education and the coordination of wellness initiatives and clinics for joint venture personnel, such as flu vaccinations, COVID testing, and health screening programs. Liaise with internal claims management teams, WSIB, and external healthcare providers regarding workplace injury or illness claims, supporting effective case management and timely resolution. Perform other related duties as assigned to support occupational health, safety, and site operational objectives. What You Bring to the Table:
Minimum qualification as a Registered Practical Nurse in the province of Ontario required. Knowledge of WSIB legislation and process considered an asset. Basic understanding of regulations applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety. Occupational nursing accreditation or direct construction site experience preferred. This role requires flexibility to support project demands, including shift work, extended hours, and occasional weekend or night work throughout the duration of the project. This role requires the successful candidate to work within a nuclear workplace. At CanAtom, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals and will provide accommodations throughout the recruitment process upon request. Reason for vacancy: Replacement Pay Range: $95,000-$145,000 Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
