Electrical Quality Inspector (Pickering)

Job Title: Electrical Quality Control Inspector – Nuclear Projects Job Description This role focuses on performing electrical quality control inspections within a nuclear power plant setting, ensuring that all electrical construction work meets established standards, inspection test plans (ITPs), and regulatory requirements. You will spend most of your time in the field conducting visual inspections, working directly with construction trades to correct issues before documentation, and completing detailed quality control reports in the site trailer. Responsibilities - Perform thorough visual quality control inspections of electrical work in construction areas within a nuclear power plant. - Follow inspection test plans (ITPs), complete sign-off activities, and accurately document all required information. - Record work performed in the field, ensuring that all electrical installations comply with project specifications and applicable standards. - Identify non-conformances or deficiencies in electrical work and collaborate with construction trades to resolve issues before final documentation. - Prepare and maintain clear, organized documentation and reports on quality control activities in the work site trailer. - Support long-term nuclear project scopes by consistently applying quality standards and contributing to continuous improvement of QC processes. - Participate in potential vault work as the project progresses and site activity increases. - Work safely and compliantly within nuclear facility requirements, including adherence to security and site access protocols. Essential Skills - Proven experience in electrical quality control inspection within construction or industrial environments. - Hands-on experience performing visual inspections of electrical installations. - Practical experience working with and following Inspection Test Plans (ITPs). - Ability to complete ITP sign-off activities and maintain accurate QC documentation. - Nuclear security clearance with OPG or Bruce Power, or the ability to obtain and maintain this clearance. - Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and address quality issues in the field. - Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with construction trades and project teams. - Comfort working both in active field environments and in an office or trailer setting for documentation and reporting. Additional Skills & Qualifications - Experience writing ITPs in addition to executing them. - Experience supporting nuclear projects or working in highly regulated industrial environments. - Experience as part of a multidisciplinary quality team (for example, working alongside welding, mechanical, and other electrical inspectors). - Ability to support long-term project scopes and adapt to evolving work demands as site activity increases. Work Environment This position is based on-site at a nuclear power plant, with a majority of time spent in the field performing visual inspections and the remainder in a work site trailer completing documentation and reporting. The role may involve occasional vault work as project activity increases. The current schedule follows a compressed workweek of four 10-hour shifts, with the possibility of transitioning to five 10-hour days or six 10-hour days depending on project needs. Shifts may be scheduled as days or nights, and you must be prepared and comfortable working both. Typical day shifts run from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., while night shifts run from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. or from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. A 10% wage premium applies to all night shift hours, and overtime is paid after 44 hours per week. The environment is fast-paced and highly regulated, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and adherence to nuclear security and site procedures. Dress and personal protective equipment must comply with nuclear facility and construction site requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pickering, ON.
