Job title: Design EngineerJob family: EngineeringBusiness area: HydropowerContract location: Pointe-Claire, Quebec, CALocation type: Location FlexibleContract type: PermanentSummary of the roleAs a member of the Andritz Hydro Mechanical Design Team Turbine, located in Pointe‐Claire, the selected candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of current and refurbished Francis, Kaplan and propeller turbine units.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with hydraulic and mechanical design engineers, drafters and project teams to complete the turbine design to meet specification requirements while optimizing costs over the project cycle; Perform analytical design calculations (stresses and strains) and technical specifications, in accordance with internal design practices and industry requirements; Produce engineering instructions for manufacturing and installation; Track and update engineering budgets and schedule with project teams; Organize and participate in design reviews; Review and seal technical documentation produced by oneself or under supervision; Provide technicalsupport for the manufacturing and installation of turbines or generators; Participate in the development and maintenance of tools and design practices; Participate in problem solving and root cause identification; Prepare technicalbid documentation as required.QualificationsUniversity degree in Mechanical Engineering; 10 years in refurbishment or design of hydroelectric turbine or in design and repair of heavy mechanical structure (pulp and paper, mining, etc.); Profile: Customer‐oriented, teamwork, interpersonal skills, technical leadership, solution‐oriented and continuous development; Excellent writtenand oral communication abilities; Available for occasional trips of over a week in Canada and abroad; Knowledge of MS Office suite, CAD system and relevant IT tools; Fluently bilingual – English and French, written and oral (desired); Manufacturing experience (welding, machining and/or casting) and site experience an asset.BenefitsLife, disability, dental and extended health insurance; Pension plan;Profit sharing program; Employee assistance program; Employee individualized training and career plan.Andritz Hydro Canada is an equal opportunity employer.
