We are seeking a pragmatic people manager to lead the combined Data Governance and Data Modeling function within the Data and Artificial Intelligence team. The person in this role will be responsible for day-to-day execution, ensuring that data is well managed, well structured and usable, while building a strong team and working closely with business stakeholders and technology partners. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Strategy and Governance - Data and Artificial Intelligence, this role will play a key part in delivering reliable, high-quality, AI-ready data in priority areas.Responsibilities
Data governance execution
Lead the implementation and adoption of data governance frameworks, standards and processes across domains. Ensure responsibilities and stewardship are clearly defined and implemented in collaboration with business stakeholders. Provide direction and oversight to ensure governance requirements (data retention, privacy protection, compliance) are consistently met.Remove blockers and escalates risks as needed to ensure governance initiatives proceed smoothly. Ensure transparency and communication regarding data quality, lineage, and key associated risks. Promote continuous improvement of data reliability and ease of use. Data modeling capabilities
Set the direction and priorities for data modeling activities based on business needs and analytics/AI requirements. Ensure consistency and quality of conceptual, logical and physical data models produced by the team. Define and enforce modeling standards and best practices across domains. Collaborate with the Data Engineering and Architecture team to ensure models are implemented effectively and are scalable.Coach and develop team members to strengthen their governance and modeling skills. Serve as the primary resource for Data Governance and Data Modeling within the department. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience in data governance, data modeling, or data management may be considered in lieu of formal education. At least five to eight years, or more, of experience in data governance, data management, or data modeling.Previous experience in a people manager or team lead role, with responsibility for team outcomes and performance. Proven experience implementing governance practices (e.g., data ownership, accountable stewardship, standards). Hands-on experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) in modern data environments.Experience working in cross-functional environments (Business, Data Engineering, Analytics). Demonstrated punctuality and reliability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment. Employment conditions
