Electrical & Instrumentation Field Engineer (Industrial Projects) Full time • Department: Electrical Field Engineering • Market Segment: Construction Bantrel is currently seeking a qualified Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I;) Field Engineer (Industrial Projects) to join our mining team based out of Leroy, SK. The E&I; Field Engineer will perform field inspections, participate in construction walk‑downs, and ensure that construction meets electrical and instrumentation design intent. They will address technical queries and non‑conformance reports and will act as the link between the Owner (BHP), Engineers of Record (HBJV), and construction teams. The role is part of the Hatch Bantrel Joint Venture (HBJV) executing the BHP Jansen Potash Mine Project. The project includes the Detailed Engineering Phase for the Processing, Non‑Process Infrastructure, and Mining Areas of a 4.5 Mtpa Stage 1 potash mine. Key Working Conditions This is a short‑term, full‑time, camp position with a 14‑day on / 7‑day off rotation. The position is not eligible for a relocation subsidy or living‑out allowance. Responsibilities Complete mandatory mechanical inspections for all infrastructure within scope. Sign applicable check sheets upon completion of field inspections. Review submittals related to electrical and instrumentation (project execution plan, quality plan, inspection and test plans, inspection records). Manage technical queries (TQs), field change notices (FCNs), field change reports (FCRs), and non‑conformance reports (NCRs). Communicate design changes and/or field engineering changes with construction and engineering teams. Perform electrical and instrumentation field inspections. Leverage ICC platforms and systems to submit queries, notices, and reports. Review installed quantities. Participate in construction walk‑downs and verify closure of punch items. Confirm completion of minimum maintenance and inspection activities for electrical and instrumentation components by contractors. Participate in site risk and control ownership as required. Generate reports on electrical and instrumentation engineering deliverables, execution, and turnover. Operate day‑to‑day activities, prioritizing work in line with broader objectives. Attend and participate in weekly contractor quality meetings. Prepare field sketch drawings for temporary facilities when required. Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to electrical discipline, including installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, and DCS systems. Establish working relationships and lines of communication with the Engineer of Record, agreeing on engineering deliverables and construction application configuration management. Specify electrical criteria for construction of temporary facilities as required. Review material receiving reports and warehousing to ensure correct electrical materials are delivered. Coordinate and monitor interfaces for electrical data exchange to support automation and project controls. Coordinate with field supervision and subcontractors to plan and support construction schedules. Plan and recommend electrical procedures for field supervision to ensure operations meet engineering design and specifications. Additional duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. Professional Engineer registration in Saskatchewan is considered an asset. Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience on large‑scale capital projects, preferably in mining, potash, or heavy industrial construction. Strong knowledge of quality management systems, ISO standards, inspection and test plans, and auditing processes. High attention to detail and a commitment to quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Ability to quickly learn and apply new systems, standards, and technologies in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of industry‑leading engineering standards and practices in an EPC/EPCM multi‑discipline environment, including experience with 3D and data‑centric design platforms. Experience with integrated project delivery workflows, including procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, health & safety, environment, and risk management.
