Description
The City of Thompson invites qualified applicants to submit a resume for consideration for the full‑time position of Community Safety Officer. Responsibilities

Enforce bylaws passed by Council and appointed statutes. Assist and work cooperatively with the RCMP and other stakeholders using a collaborative enforcement model. Enforce prevention, intervention, and education of applicable legislation with an emphasis on the downtown area. Conduct patrols within the community. Investigate and respond to by‑law complaints. Ensure resolution either by education and redirection or ticketing. Explain and interpret policies and regulations to the public and Administration. Maintain documents and files. Prepare notices, summonses, and other legal documents. Maintain the confidentiality of all information. Qualifications

Superior interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on effective communication and conflict resolution. Excellent oral and written communication; focus on customer service and public relations. Demonstrated ability to maintain a qualified manner and make sound decisions under stressful public conditions. Knowledge of issues facing hard‑to‑serve populations, including homelessness, addictions, crime prevention, and public safety. Understanding of the social roots of crime. Knowledge of community resources. Minimum qualifications listed on the City of Thompson website.
