Organization information For further information on the organization, visit National Defence. Duties Lead and supervise a team of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and technicians. Plan and oversee aircraft maintenance to ensure operational readiness. Ensure compliance with airworthiness, safety, and regulatory requirements. Provide technical expertise and resolve complex maintenance issues. Coordinate work schedules, priorities, and operational demands. Monitor quality, safety, and maintenance/reliability programs. Manage team performance and foster a respectful workplace. Communicate effectively with stakeholders and management. Support administrative and financial responsibilities as required. Maintain team training, certification, and operational capability. Intent of the process - Establish a pool of partially or fully qualified candidates for identical or similar positions with various employment tenures, language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions at DND. - The intent is to fill two (2) permanent positions in Ottawa, ON and Prince Rupert, BC. Positions to be filled 2 Conditions of employment Secret security clearance Possession of a valid driver’s licence. Possession of a valid passport. Operational Requirements Willingness and ability to undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills, and abilities. Willingness and ability to work in a flexible environment on variable day or shift schedules, including weekends or overtime or short notice, and occasional standby during designated rest days. Willingness and ability to work at various positions on aircraft and in the hangar and in non-hanger environments, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying, sitting, crawling into confined spaces, and climbing elevated maintenance stands. Willingness and ability to obtain Delegated Financial Signing Authorities as a Responsibility Center Manager. You need (essential for the job) Education Successful completion of a recognized postsecondary school program in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Occupational Certification Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer category License M2, or M1 and M2. Experience Recent and significant experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, maintaining fixed wing / rotary wing aircraft. Recent experience supervising a team of technical personnel (such as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers or technicians) in an Approved Maintenance Organization. Significant experience means at least 3 years of relevant experience. Recent is defined within the last 5 years. Applied/assessed at a later date Competencies Demonstrating integrity and respect Thinking things through Working effectively with others Showing initiative and being action-oriented Abilities Ability to communicate effectively orally Ability to communicate effectively in writing Ability to plan and lead a team in a technical workplace Language requirements (essential for the job) Applied/assessed at a later date Asset qualifications – experience Maintenance type training or experience maintaining one or more of the following aircraft types: Bombardier Challenger 600/601/604/650/RJ, De Havilland Dash-7/Dash-8 Series, Bell 412, Bell 429, Bombardier Global Series. Experience managing financial resources, possession of Government of Canada Delegated Financial Authorities, or completion of Canada School of Public Service Authority Delegation training. Experience developing or maintaining maintenance and reliability programs. Experience or training on Class 1/2/3 Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
