Opportunity Tidewater has an immediate opening for an Intermediate Mechanical/Reliability Engineer, Renewables, reporting to the General Manager, Prince George Renewables. This is a full-time position based in Prince George, BC. We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical/Reliability Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our renewable diesel facility. This role focuses on improving mechanical availability, reducing unplanned downtime, and optimizing maintenance strategies for critical rotating and static equipment systems. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, and process engineering to drive reliability improvements in an industrial plant environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and continuously improve equipment reliability programs (RCM, PM optimization, condition monitoring)

Analyze equipment failures using root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies and implement corrective actions

Monitor and improve performance of critical assets (pumps, compressors, blowers, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, piping systems)

Support turnaround planning and execution, including scope development and post-event analysis

Lead or support bad actor elimination initiatives using data-driven approaches

Utilize CMMS data to track KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, and equipment availability

Collaborate with maintenance teams to optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies

Support mechanical integrity programs, including inspections and regulatory compliance

Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes for equipment modifications

Provide technical support for troubleshooting and day-to-day plant issues

Manage small maintenance capital projects for operational improvements

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

A Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation recognized by EGBC or APEGA

Proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo)

4–8 years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or mechanical engineering within a refinery, petrochemical, or similar heavy industrial environment

Experience with rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, blowers) and fixed equipment

Strong understanding of reliability principles (RCM, FMEA, RCA, Weibull analysis preferred)

Knowledge of industry codes and standards (API, ASME)

Experience in management of change

Previous Project Management or Project Engineering experience would be considered an asset
