Role Description Arcadis is currently seeking a Design Commercial Manager to join our Mobility Global Business Area (GBA) in Vancouver, Canada. The successful candidate will have proven experience providing commercial leadership on major capital projects, particularly within the Design & Engineering sector, and their work will contribute directly to successful project completion. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies and optimize the mobility of people and goods. Role Accountabilities Lead project commercial activities and cost team; report to SPM, Project Director and Country Commercial Director. Own financial performance: monitor and manage AR, AP and overall project profitability. Update Cost to Complete / Estimate at Completion monthly; reconcile timesheets and agree forecasts prior to Oracle entry. Produce monthly internal and external cost reports; highlight variances, early warnings and change impacts. Manage change control: process change notices, maintain change logs and develop implementation strategies. Process, verify and issue invoices; chase outstanding payments promptly. Ensure accurate cost classification and deliver clear financial reports. Complete month‑end and year‑end financial tasks; support audits with documentation and analysis. Support FX considerations and cost forecasting for international teams. Maintain project commercial records (contracts, change orders, correspondence, schedules, reports). Implement and monitor earned value management (CPI, SPI); identify issues and propose corrective actions. Re‑baseline and re‑forecast costs and schedules as required, coordinating with schedulers and design leads. Oversee contract administration, claims and commercial documentation. Lead by example on quality, promote safety, and engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, engineering, construction management, or related discipline. Minimum 12 years’ experience in delivering design and engineering projects, preferably in a consultancy environment. Versatile and adaptable; able to independently prioritise, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Proficient in project management principles, planning, schedule/cost controls, and earned value management. Working knowledge of risk management tools (e.g., Acumen Risk) and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6). Experience managing Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and supporting detailed schedules. Skilled in tailoring commercial, financial, and project information for various stakeholder audiences. Strong organisational and coordination abilities, integrating multiple disciplines and specialist teams. Demonstrated commercial awareness; able to identify and manage cost, risk, and contractual implications. Logical thinker with the ability to coordinate and resolve complex, multi‑faced project issues. Deep knowledge of own area and broad understanding of wider programme, business, and organisational objectives. Experience across all project lifecycle phases, especially in complex, large‑scale civil infrastructure. Proven track record coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams in infrastructure or marine project settings. Experience delivering large‑scale civil infrastructure projects, especially marine or port works, is highly desirable. Membership in recognised professional bodies (e.g., PQS, MRICS, MCIOB) preferred. Working knowledge of digital delivery and collaboration platforms (e.g., InEight Documents, Mortar, Smartsheet) desirable. Strong oral and written communication, influencing, and relationship‑building skills across all organisational levels. Salary & Benefits The salary range for this position is $96,800 - $145,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
