Location: Trail, BC, Canada Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Duration: 8 months (Start Date: September 2026) Workplace Type: On-site About Trail Operations Teck's Trail Operations, located in the community of Trail in British Columbia, is one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Located in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor adventure at your fingertips. Role Overview For this exciting position, we are specifically targeting students who have a background in Process Control. Key Responsibilities Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures. Safely and effectively work in an operating industrial plant environment. Support upgrading, development and maintenance activities for process control systems. Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve our process control systems. Gather and analyze data to identify key trends, determine root cause and develop solutions. Collaborate with engineering and operations to organize, schedule, manage costs, and monitor the progress of projects. Day-to-day troubleshooting with an understanding of industrial processes and equipment. Process simulation, advanced process control, and optimization strategy development. Retain and increase the quality of the current documentation. Qualifications Eligibility: Must be a 3rd or 4th year student, enrolled in a recognized Canadian post‑secondary institution during the co‑op term. Fields of study: Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, Metallurgy, Chemical, Mechanical, or technical diploma/undergraduate/graduate programs. Knowledge of Distributed Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controller hardware, architecture, software and control logic is an asset. Previous work experience in a technical, engineering or process control workplace is an asset, including data analysis and process simulation in Python or MATLAB. Familiarity with drawing programs like AutoCAD and Visio is a must. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Motivated self‑starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Comfortable working in a agile environment, willing to work outdoors and operate vehicles in various weather conditions and terrain. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and ability to explain complex ideas to all levels. Minimum Qualifications Must be enrolled in a recognized Canadian post‑secondary institution as a 3rd or 4th year student for the duration of the co‑op term and return to school after completion. Willingness to commute or relocate to the surrounding area for the entire duration and proof of a valid work permit, if required. Advantages Pay Range: CAD $4,833 - $6,125 per month, determined based on experience, skills and internal equity. Additional Advantages Financial assistance for travel costs and co‑op fees.
