Northern Health Peer Advocate Position (Smithers)

As a Peer Advocate, you will work within the Specialized Community Services to enhance health promotion and harm reduction initiatives. Indigenous ancestry or experience is considered significant, ensuring culturally relevant programming. Key Responsibilities: - Promote peer involvement in substance use policy development - Implement harm reduction strategies across the community - Support individuals based on their lived experiences - Collaborate with First Nations organizations and communities - Deliver health promotion activities and workshops Requirements: - Current or past recipient of mental health services - Minimum two years' experience in peer mentoring - Solid communication and public speaking skills - Familiarity with harm reduction principles - Ability to work independently and in teams Make a difference at Northern Health by empowering peers and enhancing community programs.
