Construction & Contract Management (CCM) Practice Lead – Team Lead Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Edmonds C03 Employment type: Permanent Region: Lower Mainland Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00 Position Highlights The Construction and Contract Management (CCM) Practice Lead is responsible for leading the CCM Practice and its team in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a “best-in-class” Construction and Contract Management practice across Capital Construction. This role assumes the CCM Practice Lead accountability previously fulfilled at the department manager level and provides day-to-day leadership, prioritization, and strategic direction for the CCM Practice team. The role leads a team of professionals and works collaboratively with Capital Construction leadership, Project Delivery, and other business units across BC Hydro to ensure consistent, effective application of CCM practices across the full project lifecycle. What you'll do Practice Leadership & Strategy - Lead the CCM Practice, ensuring construction and contract management practices, procedures, and tools are practical, effective, and aligned with business, corporate, and regulatory requirements. - Oversee intake, prioritization, and delivery of CCM Practice work, ensuring alignment with business needs and effective use of team capacity. - Develop and execute short- and intermediate-term plans for the CCM Practice and support longer-term strategic direction in alignment with Capital Construction and Project Delivery objectives. - Act as the CCM Practice subject matter expert, providing guidance on policy interpretation, procedural application, and emerging risk areas. - Identify and prioritize practice improvement opportunities based on audits, lessons learned, regulator feedback, and project and stakeholder input. ________________________________________ People & Team Leadership - Maintain awareness of industry best practices and emerging trends to inform CCM Practice direction. - Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and improvement-focused team culture. - Coach, develop, and support team members, including setting clear expectations and providing ongoing feedback. ________________________________________ Practice Development & Governance - Lead the development and revision of CCM practices, procedures, templates, and guidance materials. - Ensure CCM practices are clearly documented, communicated, and consistently applied across Capital Construction. - Oversee audits, conformance reviews, and practice assessments, and ensure timely closure of identified gaps. - Ensure alignment with corporate policy, contract governance expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements. - Lead the identification and incorporation of lessons learned to support continuous improvement and streamlining of the CCM Practice. ________________________________________ Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management - Lead stakeholder engagement and change management to support effective adoption of CCM Practice updates. - Represent the CCM Practice in cross-functional forums, leadership discussions, and working groups. - Build strong working relationships with Project Delivery, Supply Chain, Legal, and other key stakeholders to support consistent application of CCM practices. ________________________________________ Training & Knowledge Transfer - Oversee the development and delivery of CCM-related training, onboarding, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. - Ensure lessons learned and best practices are incorporated into CCM guidance and training materials. ________________________________________ What you bring Qualifications & Experience - 10+ years of progressively more complex experience performing construction and contract management, construction planning, project management, construction quality management, and procurement on large infrastructure projects. - University degree or technical diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - On-site experience with major infrastructure projects or projects within an electric utility. - Strong collaboration, communication, and change management skills, with the ability to influence without authority. - Strong presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex issues to diverse audiences. - Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership and drive issues to resolution. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Experience in change management within a utility, construction, or regulated workplace is an asset. - Project, construction, and contract management experience from both the project owner and contractor is an asset.
