Overview Brown and Caldwell (BC) has an exciting opportunity for a Process Mechanical Designer to join our team. You will work directly with senior process mechanical designers on multi‑discipline designs for facilities primarily serving the water and wastewater industries. The Process Mechanical Designer role will assist in developing process mechanical piping designs and equipment layouts using Revit and AutoCAD. The role will coordinate P&IDs; and piping specifications, ensuring that designs are accurate and meet project requirements. The position will involve cross‑discipline model coordination and clash resolution, ensuring that designs are integrated seamlessly. The role will develop process mechanical and piping drawings, ensuring they meet the required level of detail at project design gates and milestones. Additionally, the position will be responsible for valve and equipment scheduling, ensuring all components are accurately documented and scheduled. This position is assigned to our Vancouver, B.C. office; hybrid work schedule is allowed. Responsibilities Perform process mechanical piping design and process mechanical equipment layout tasks. Perform P&ID; coordination and piping specification coordination. Participate in cross‑discipline model coordination/clash resolution. Understand level of detail at project design gates/milestones. Provide technical support in the completion of assigned tasks. Develop skills via formal training and on‑the‑job education. Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs. May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge‑sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles. Skills and Competencies Knowledge in process mechanical piping design and process mechanical equipment layout. Strong ability to coordinate P&ID; and piping specifications. Positive understanding of level of detail at project design gates/milestones. Experience Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of process mechanical design or related experience. Preferred Experience 4+ years of related process mechanical design experience. Experience with Open Plant and Smart PIDs. Experience with Water and Wastewater infrastructure designs. Experience in 3D modeling, BIM design, drawing production, and associated workflows. Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally. High level of communication and strong writing skills. Education An associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology or related field or equivalent experience is required. Salary Range The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
