Full-Time 40 Hours a Week Salary Range: $130,000 - $200,000 The posted salary range reflects varying levels of experience, from emerging professionals to those with several years of relevant experience. While the full range represents the potential earnings for the role, it is not typical for recent hires to start at the top of the range. Placement within the range is based on qualifications, experience, and alignment with internal equity. Westerkirk Capital Inc. (‘WCI’), a private investment company based in Victoria, BC is seeking a Manager of Investment Reporting and Risk. The organization is a single-family office investment enterprise managing assets via internal direct and third-party/external managers across a variety of portfolios and asset classes including fixed income, public equity, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, and real estate. The Manager of Investment Reporting and Risk will be responsible for overseeing WCI’s investment risk management and reporting functions encompassing core, special purpose and family-related investment portfolios and owned businesses. The Manager of Investment Reporting and Risk must be able to thrive in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and is a self-starter who takes initiative. Responsibilities With oversight from the Portfolio Manager, Strategy the primary areas of responsibility include: Maintain a robust reporting process utilizing the Addepar platform by designing, preparing and reviewing investment and risk reports for management, family and other key stakeholders. Enhance the automation of the reporting of investment portfolio positions, performance and risk exposures. Design, implement and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework covering market, credit, liquidity, operational, and relevant enterprise risks. Develop robust risk metrics (VaR, stress testing, scenario analyses, liquidity profiling) and deliver clear risk and positional reporting to management, family and other key stakeholders. Monitor aggregate and asset-class-specific exposures and risks across public and private investments, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and mandates. Monitor and report on the exposures of Westerkirk’s external public-market and hedge fund managers, including risk and return analysis to management and other key stakeholders. Ensure adequate liquidity across liquid and illiquid investments by preforming stress tests and generating recommendations, as well as the preparation of capital calls. Work alongside Manager – Investment Operations on investment compliance, operations, reporting and risk functions, acting as temporary back-up on compliance and regulatory topics. Qualifications & Personal Characteristics Bachelor’s degree in business, mathematics, sciences, or related field. CPA, CFA, CAIA, CIPM, FRM, PRM, CCO or equivalent designations are considered an asset. Minimum 5+ years of investment operations, performance measurement and reporting, risk management and/or compliance experience. Comprehensive and demonstrated understanding of investment and enterprise risk management principles and practices. Proven experience managing technical-oriented investment functions and personnel. Ability to identify and communicate issues affecting investment and enterprise risk, performance. Independently driven and detail oriented. Excellent quantitative, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to cultivate partnerships and work collaboratively in a team environment with both internal and external partners. Coding experience and an understanding of Addepar considered an asset.
