Program Worker - Youth and Family - Elementary Position: Program Worker - Youth and Family - Elementary (30 hrs per week, Monday to Friday). Current rate: $34.07 plus 16.3% in lieu of perks. Locations may change. Qualifications Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or related discipline. Relevant coursework in interpersonal communication, counselling theory, CPI preferred, and at least two of: child and adolescent psychology, behavioural change theories, family systems (domestic violence, family conflict, substance abuse), abnormal psychology, group processes. Minimum two years of experience working with at‑risk children and youth. Skills in collaboration, consultation, and facilitation among schools and community agencies. Knowledge of behaviour disorders, substance abuse, physical and sexual abuse, parenting, family dynamics, engagement of resistant families, crisis intervention, and trauma‑informed practice. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to liaise with professionals and respect confidentiality. Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence; appropriate licence and personal vehicle for job. Meets physical requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Duties and Responsibilities Duties are performed under supervision of Inclusive Education administration, school principal or designate. The worker provides individual, small group, and family support for assigned caseload, recognizes risk or crisis and offers preventive and intervention services, communicates and works with school and community colleagues, facilitates collaboration among schools and agencies, supports students in school outcome objectives related to their IEP/Service Plan, may be required to support secondary school students, available for crisis intervention, supports inclusion of students, keeps accurate and current case documentation, respects confidentiality, follows work procedures and regulations, maintains positive relationships, performs related duties as assigned, and provides student supervision as required.
