Job Summary Title: Lead Back End Engineer (Lead Software Developer) – Ticketmaster NA Location: Quebec, QC; Montreal, QC or Toronto, ON Division: Ticketmaster NA Line Manager: Senior Director of Engineering Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week Description The role is an immediate vacancy for a Lead Back End Engineer. You will lead an engineering team and be responsible for analyzing, coding, and maintaining the next generation of fan‑facing services for Ticketmaster, the global leader in ticket management for large‑scale sports and entertainment. You will work closely with developers, product owners, managers, and business representatives to deliver high‑quality, effective, maintainable, and easy‑to‑use services. The software you develop will be used by millions of people worldwide. Responsibilities Lead a team of engineers of mixed levels and skill sets. Participate in and drive development work across globally distributed software teams. Provide technical guidance to the team, including architecture and design decisions, code reviews, and technical problem‑solving. Own the full development and deployment cycle for your team’s software and product. Encourage and grow developers in their craft through mentorship and leadership. Work with Engineering Management to set SMART goals for your team and provide feedback. Organize, prioritize, and multitask while coordinating team efforts, reporting to stakeholders and management on progress. Connect with stakeholders to gather information about problems and implement short‑to‑mid‑term strategies to evolve products for future success. Make technical recommendations outside of the immediate team. Debug and triage production application issues. Automate testing, deployments, performance, and recovery. Qualifications Proven leadership experience. Experience with Agile methodologies. Strong backend development skills. Experience with Java 17/21 or related JVM languages. Proven ability to design and implement clean, scalable, and well‑structured APIs. Experience with modern frameworks such as Spring Boot. Test‑driven development experience. Understanding of Continuous Integration practices. Knowledge of current software architectural trends and practices. Experience with Design Patterns and SOLID principles. Experience working with AWS or another cloud provider. Experience with CI/CD servers (Gitlab/Jenkins). Experience with Docker and Kubernetes or other orchestration/scheduling frameworks. Experience working in an SOA development environment. Working knowledge of one or more database products (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL). Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate closely with remote team members. Ability to clearly communicate technical topics to non‑technical people. Experience mentoring team members and delegating work accordingly. Language Requirements A high level of proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is required.
