Job Title: General Labor – HVAC Manufacturing (Assembly Support & Prototype Sample Build) Department: Production / Engineering / Prototype Development Location: Trenton, ON Job Summary: The General Labor supports HVAC manufacturing operations by assisting in assembly line activities and helping build prototype/sample units for new product development. The role involves material handling, basic assembly assistance, tool support, and coordination with technicians and engineers to ensure smooth production and prototype build activities. Key Responsibilities: 1. Assembly Line Support - Assist assembly technicians in mechanical, piping, and electrical assembly tasks. - Supply components and materials to workstations as required. - Support installation of parts such as panels, brackets, insulation, and minor fittings. - Help maintain smooth workflow on the production line. 2. Prototype / Sample Unit Support - Assist engineers and technicians in building prototype HVAC units. - Help in assembling experimental configurations for current product designs. - Support modifications, rework, and adjustments during prototype trials. - Handle iterative changes based on engineering feedback. 3. Material Handling & Logistics - Move components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods within the shop floor. - Ensure proper handling to avoid damage to sensitive HVAC components. - Organize parts and maintain staging areas for production and prototype builds. 4. Tool & Fixture Assistance - Assist in setup of basic tools, fixtures, and jigs used in assembly. - Support technicians in using hand tools and basic power tools (under supervision). - Ensure tools are returned and maintained properly after use. 5. Housekeeping - Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations. - Dispose of scrap materials and maintain safe working environment. 6. Quality & Safety Support - Follow instructions from supervisors to ensure proper assembly support. - Identify and report visible defects or missing parts. - Follow all safety guidelines, PPE usage, and workplace safety rules. 7. Continuous Support to Engineering Team - Assist during product trials and testing activities. - Help in dismantling and reassembly during design changes. - Provide hands-on support during prototype validation cycles. Required Skills & Competencies: - Basic understanding of mechanical assembly processes. - Ability to follow instructions carefully and work in a team. - Basic tool handling skills (hand tools, lifting aids).
