Description
Our Telecommunications group is currently looking to add a Construction Supervisor to our growing team, based in Sherwood Park, AB.Reporting to the Project Manager, we are seeking an experienced Construction Leader who will be responsible for leading in office construction crews and acting as the primary liaison between Project Managers, field crews, and the client, ensuring projects are executed safely, on schedule, on budget, and to quality standards.Please Note: This is a field-based position that will need to accommodate multiple shift requirements based on site‐specific project schedules. Occasional travel will also be required (25% of the time).Duties And ResponsibilitiesAct as the primary point of contact for Project Managers and the main liaison between Valard crews and the client's Site RepresentativeLead and supervise on‐site crews, ensuring construction activities comply with project drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, and Valard safety and quality standardsPromote and support the implementation of Valard's safety policies and procedures, leading by exampleEnsure all near‐miss and incident events are properly investigated and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrenceCollaborate closely with Project Managers to develop and maintain construction schedules through the efficient use of manpower, materials, tools, and equipmentSupport the management of subcontractors on site, including monitoring productivity to maintain project schedules and contract budgetsAssist Project Managers in developing project execution plans, coordinating kick‐off meetings and scope reviews, and working with the Contracts team to support successful project deliveryMentor, train, and motivate crews to foster a strong culture of safety, quality, and productivityEnsure crews are knowledgeable of, and consistently adhere to, company safety, construction, and quality policies and proceduresEnsure accurate and timely completion and submission of crew timesheetsSupport internal and external audits and inspection activities as requiredCoordinate equipment reviews and schedulingConduct employee performance reviews and support disciplinary actions, in collaboration with HR and Safety, as required for policy non‐complianceRequirements5 years of experience in the telecom construction industry (Applicable experience in utility infrastructure construction may also be considered)Working knowledge of fiber, copper cable, and coax placement both aerial and undergroundKnowledge in both Directional Drilling and Vibratory PlowingValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordExperience leading multiple work crewsKnowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost, and quality controlsProficiency in all aspects of Microsoft OfficeJob Posting End Date: February 24th, 2026BenefitsWe offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.About Our BusinessValard Construction is Canada's premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
