Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Forest Planner will work individually and with a team of professionals responsible for all aspects of forest planning.You'll Do:
Develop harvest and road plans considering steep slope topography and incorporating tether harvest systems. Align design and layout with the approved FMP and DFO regulations. Contract management, contractor supervision, and coordination of road and block layout. Consult stakeholders individually with interest groups, as well as through open houses and interaction with the public involvement group.Liaise with government officials, prepare&submit digital data to provided standards. Participate in optimizing data workflow efficiencies. Expect 75%+ office work to address GIS intensive work requirements. Incorporate wildlife, fisheries, environmental and economic values into harvest design. You have:
Commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship. Self-motivated and team oriented. Strong communication and organizational skills. Competency or aptitude in using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, ESRI mobile apps. Experience developing or supervising harvest and roading planning. Demonstrated leadership in a group setting.Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation for Alberta. What We Offer:
