Regina Airport Authority Requires two students for the position of Groundskeeper. The Groundskeeper is responsible for the maintenance of ground surfaces and landscaped areas of Regina International Airport. Responsibilities - While promoting safety awareness, perform all duties with an ownership attitude in compliance with corporate policies and procedures. - Assist with ensuring appropriate response procedures are carried out in the event of an emergency. - Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the companies Mission, Vision and Corporate Values. - Promote customer service awareness and an ownership attitude. - Be aware of and follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards along with all airport safety policies and procedures. - Responsible for the daily maintenance of airport landscaped areas including grass cutting, weeding, watering, planting trees and flowers, and assisting with irrigation system operation and repairs. - Operating various types of mobile equipment and hand tools in performing daily tasks. - Responsible for the preparation of flower beds in the spring and the watering and maintenance of flower beds on a continuous basis. - Responsible for daily upkeep of airport property and grounds which includes the cleaning and removal of trash and litter. - Assist with various tasks as assigned. - Caring for mobile equipment including cleaning, washing, and basic maintenance. - Miscellaneous duties in support of general airport grounds and facilities maintenance such as painting, shop cleaning, and various types of labour activities. - Understand and comply with all Corporate Policies and Procedures. Requirements - Completion of high school (or equivalent) and enrolled full-time in an accredited institution for the fall school term; proof of attendance may be required. - Must be safety conscious and have working knowledge of secure working practices while using powered and non-powered tools and equipment. - Must be motivated and able to work in a team setting or independently. - Must be in good physical shape with the ability to lift a minimum up to 40 pounds. - Must have previous experience in landscape maintenance and knowledge of horticulture practices. - Ability to implement safe working practices while operating powered and non-powered landscape equipment or hand tools such as mowers, tractors, shovels, rakes, saws or any other tool or equipment required to complete an assigned task. - Ability to follow detailed designs in planting flowers, grass, trees, shrubs, and applying mulch and ground cover for protection. - Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills to professionally manage a multitude of tasks in a customer focused environment. - Ability to grow and maintain positive professional relationships with corporate departments, key business partners and team members. - Capable of performing within a transparent work environment where collaborative relationships are encouraged, and varied opinions are respected. - Robust awareness and commitment to a healthy and safe working environment. - Demonstrated ability to have a positive impact on business results. - Critical and logical thinking skills, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts. - A self-directed problem solver who can work well both independently and collaboratively within a team. - Results oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and time lines with strong attention to detail. - Computer literate with Microsoft based applications. - Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license. - Ability to secure a clear National Criminal Record through the internal pre-employment background screening process. - Ability to obtain a Transportation Security Clearance. Rate of Pay - Rate of Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour Conditions of Employment - No previous criminal background for which a pardon has not been granted. A clear pre-employment National Criminal Record through Regina Airport Authority’s background screening process.
