Job Summary School Social Worker position for the 2023-2024 school year in Building 1.0. Responsibilities include casework, collaboration with staff, and support for at‑risk students.
Required Qualifications
Master’s in Social Work~Clinical License
500+ clock hours of supervised social work practicum
At least 1 year of experience as a school social worker
Experience working with school age students
Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and community members
Competency in oral and written communications
Physical examination by a licensed physician documenting capability to perform required duties
Electronic fingerprint clearance from a criminal history record check
Responsibilities
Performs casework service with individual students to correct personal, social or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
Coordinates or serves as a member of diagnostic teams and educational planning and placement committees and provides biological, psychological, and sociological assessment information related to the planning for students with identified concerns.
Collaborates with counseling department colleagues regarding grade level programming and planning.
Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of student behavior.
Provides casework service with parents to help students understand constructive problem‑solving and share available resources.
Makes home visits for gathering helpful background information related to the student.
Assists students with their adjustment to school.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Provides individual or small group counseling sessions for At‑Risk identified youth as needed.
Provides key positive behavioral instruction in classrooms to support building‑wide PBIS processes.
Attends MTSS meetings when invited for specific students.
Encourages educational success through interaction and mentoring of identified at‑risk students.
Other duties as may be devised to assist at‑risk students to succeed in the high school setting.
Maintains records of daily schedule for audit purposes.
Compensation According to the negotiated Master Agreement with the Mt. Pleasant Support Personnel Association.
