Packaging Operators We are currently recruiting for Packaging Operators to join the Louis Dreyfus Company Pea Protein Isolate (“PPI”) Facility that is currently being constructed as part of LDC’s processing facility in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada.
The Packaging Operator is responsible for the day‑to‑day activities of the warehouse. This includes packaging the product from the finished product silos into the bags, palletizing activities, shipping, receiving, and inventory management. The Packaging Operator is also responsible for monitoring the industrial equipment for good repair, safety, in‑process sampling, basic maintenance, and housekeeping. The operator also completes trailer verifications, and packaging quality checks.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Operate the Packaging and palletizing equipment; operate a forklift to move product and materials.
In‑process sampling, magnet checks, metal detector verifications, analytical analysis, data reporting and record keeping both digital and paper, and reporting deviations promptly to their supervisor.
Monitor the process controls on the HMI.
Follow and execute the production plan as per written instructions.
Conduct safety inspections of equipment prior to use, participate in root cause analysis following process incidents and ensures the equipment is in good repair by performing basic preventative maintenance.
Utilize SAP for production and inspections on the applicable records.
Work in an organized, safe, and clean manner, ensuring work area is clean and free from all safety hazards.
Ensure compliance with Company safety and food safety rules by self and others. Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) as required in fulfillment of assigned responsibilities.
Secondary Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Participate in all audits for inventory control, food safety and ISO audits. Participate in corrective and preventative actions when required.
Assist with continuous improvement and process optimization programs, including“5S” activities.
Work with plant management to assist in the smooth operational running of the facility.
Assist with general sanitation and shutdown activities throughout the facility as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
Experience
Previous food manufacturing experience is preferred.
Must have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
Previous exposure to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), GDP (Good Documentation Practices), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), OPRP (Operational Pre‑Requisite Program), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
Good personal hygiene and commitment to high sanitization facility expectations.
Must participate in shiftwork rotations and overtime in a facility which has continuous operations, including day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, etc.
Must be able to move, lift, push and pull products and equipment of 50 lbs or more, and be able to withstand extended periods of walking, standing, and stair‑climbing as required in the facility.
Able to thrive and work in diverse, challenging and changing environments, including hot/cold outdoors/indoors, varying degrees of dirt, dust, odor, sound, etc.
Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong mechanical aptitude, effective oral and written communication skills, and basic numerical skills are required.
Well‑organized, self‑motivated and action oriented.
