Position: Senior Data Architect – One Data Alberta Program and Crosswalk Job ID: GOAPRDJP00000937 Duration: 12 months with possible extension up to 12 months. About the Role This role provides senior-level architectural leadership and strategic direction across the OneData Alberta and Crosswalk initiatives. Responsibilities include leading foundational activities for Data Access such as schema analysis, data profiling, and development of enterprise data architecture, enterprise data models, data quality frameworks, and metadata standards. The position also supports the design and implementation of data linkages and crosswalk frameworks to enable integrated and interoperable data across a federated data ecosystem. Responsibilities - Lead the design and delivery of enterprise and solution architecture for data platforms, AI-enabled data products, and data integration solutions across Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and Cloudera. - Provide architectural guidance in cloud environments, including solution design for AI-enabled data products, secure data sharing frameworks, and data linkage capabilities. - Define and govern enterprise data models, architecture standards, and best practices. - Translate business strategies and priorities into scalable, secure, and high-performing data architecture solutions. - Support the design, development, and delivery of data products within Data Fabric and/or Data Mesh frameworks. - Guide implementation of data linkages, crosswalk frameworks, integration patterns, and secure data sharing frameworks. - Establish frameworks for data quality, metadata management, and AI-enabled data assets. - Contribute to the design of semantic layers and data models supporting reusable and interoperable data products. - Develop and validate proof-of-concept solutions, including data integration and orchestration use cases. - Lead workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder engagements to define and validate requirements. - Provide architectural consultation and recommendations to leadership, project teams, and stakeholders. - Facilitate alignment and consensus on complex data and technology solutions across stakeholder groups. - Support data modernization initiatives including cloud adoption and platform transformation. - Collaborate with architects, engineers, scientists, and product teams to ensure consistent architecture and design across initiatives. - Review solution designs, data models, and pipelines across cloud and hybrid platforms. - Support development of scalable processes for data product delivery. - Manage tasks, track action items, and escalate risks or issues as required. - Coach and support team members in developing data and AI-driven solutions. - Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data as a strategic asset. Qualifications - Degree, Diploma, or Certification related to Data Architecture or Information Technology. - Experience defining technical architecture, data integration, and supporting software solutions. - Experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting infrastructure and enterprise solutions. - Experience across multiple architecture domains including business, application, technology, and data architecture. - Experience modeling complex business processes and translating them into technical solutions. - Experience working with Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and Cloudera platforms. - Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF. - Experience implementing data governance, data quality, metadata management, and secure data sharing frameworks. - Experience with cloud-based and Big Data platforms. - Experience supporting AI-enabled data products and advanced analytics solutions. - Solid stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills. - Public sector experience is considered an asset. Work Environment - Primarily remote within Canada. - Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, Alberta time. - Resource must provide their own equipment compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD). - Occasional onsite meetings in Alberta may be required on reasonable notice. Deliverables - Architecture designs, models, and recommendations. - Data product and platform design artifacts. - Proof-of-concept implementations and technical assessments. - Documentation for data linkages, semantic layers, integration patterns, and secure data sharing frameworks. - Weekly and monthly status reports.
