Battery Sorter Recycling Operations Richmond

We’ve built relationships with our employees, our suppliers and consumers that stretch decades, and we’re looking to add recent staff as we expand our battery recycling program. Initially, we are hiring two individuals who can efficiently sort/recycle and ensure the secure handling of various batteries for recycling purposes. A Battery Sorter plays a key role in the recycling process by safely identifying, sorting, and preparing used batteries for proper disposal or recycling. This position helps prevent environmental harm and supports resource recovery. Your contributions will directly support sustainable practices and environmental responsibility, making a positive impact on our community and planet. Position Summary and Responsibilities: Identify and Sort Batteries: Reporting to our VP of Operations at our Richmond location, working in an indoor facility, equipped with a conveyer belt with designated sorting stations, you will inspect and categorize batteries by type and chemistry (e.g., lithium-ion, alkaline, nickel-cadmium etc). Sorted batteries will be placed in designated containers. Must follow all material handling protocols. Company will provide appropriate PPE (gloves, goggles, etc.). Skills & Qualifications: We are looking for applicants that possess positive attention to detail and the ability to distinguish battery types. Basic knowledge of hazardous materials handling (training can be provided). Related training or warehouse experience would be preferred. Must be able to lift and move containers, typically up to 50 lb. Prior experience with scrap metal recycling would be an exceptional asset. Must pay attention to safety protocol standards.
