General Purpose of Job:
To inspire and prepare each scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning.
The goal of the K-12 Extended School Year (ESY) services is to help students maintain their current level of functioning. ESY service providers will address areas of need through using instructional materials provided by service providers who work with the student during the course of the regular school year.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
Position provides instruction and support in vocational and transition curriculum in community volunteer and paid employment sites.
Implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program for which employed.
Assist case manager in IEP development.
Maintain communications with parents, case managers, and community stakeholders and work with them in the development of each student.
Minimum Qualifications include:
Valid Minnesota teaching license in
Teacher-Coordinator Work Based Learning and Special Education
and/or authorizes the district to complete an Out of Field Permission request (OFP) request. Additional information can be found at PELSB's OFP guidelines.
and/or meet the Tier 1 PELSB guidelines.
Considerable knowledge of the vocational curriculum.
Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies; especially in special education and work-based learning.
Considerable knowledge of students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
Considerable knowledge of equitable curriculum concepts, e.g., racial and cultural, gender, and disability diversity.
Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
Considerable skill in classroom management and organization.
Ability to effectively facilitate and/or participate in team meetings and parent meetings.
Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to network and build relationships with community partners and local businesses.
Ability to work as a member of a dynamic team.
