With new ownership taking over as of Sept 2025. We deliver Transport Canada–approved courses and accredited practical training as a licensed IYT Partner School (MCA Small Powerboat and RHIB Master) for commercial small vessel skippers, crew, and pleasure craft operators. We focus on clear instruction, real-world application, and safety on the water. Our experienced instructors bring practical marine backgrounds to every course, ensuring students leave confident, compliant, and prepared to operate responsibly. What we are looking for: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Instructor to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. This role involves delivering engaging lessons, supporting student development, and contributing to the overall success of our educational programs. Prior classroom experience and teaching skills are highly valued, and this position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives. Ideal Candidate: This is a part time role that has a busy spring and fall season based out of the Saanichton, Sidney and Mill Bay area Ideal candidate is a retired Coast Guard, RCMP, DFO officer. Or marine professional who is slowing down after a successful career and is seeking strong seasonal work with summers and winters off. Qualifications: - Transport Canada 60 GT Limited Master as a minimum, preferred Master 150GT and above. - For delivering SVOP, SDV-BS, ROC-M - Master of Yachts 200 Ton Unlimited (IYT, RYA) or above - For delivering Small Powerboat and RHIB Master and other IYT recreational practical courses - Teaching experience/diploma. This can come in many forms and are open to the candidates presenting how they feel qualified for this role. Responsibilities - Deliver and collaborate on development on lesson plans aligned with TC mandated and IYT curriculum standards - Engage students through interactive and innovative teaching methods - Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback - Create a supportive classroom environment that encourages learning and participation - Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs - Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other relevant documentation - Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices and curriculum content - Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills Skills - Strong marine career background of various industries - 20 years experience minimum - Ability to deliver practical marine exercises to diverse clients with varrying backgrounds and past experiences. - Proven classroom experience with the ability to manage diverse groups of students - Strong teaching skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to motivate and inspire students - Organizational skills for lesson planning and record keeping - Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational setting - Passion for education and student successThis position offers an exciting opportunity for educators committed to making a difference.
