Your Opportunity The Water Resources Group is seeking a Senior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer in British Columbia to join our growing team of specialists, engineers, and scientists with a strong focus on mining water management. The position will ideally be located in Burnaby, Victoria, or Sidney, British Columbia, with flexibility to work in other offices in the region.

Key Responsibilities

Lead hydrology and water resources components of projects from baseline assessments through permitting, operations, and closure.

Develop mine water management plans, water balances, and water management infrastructure designs.

Perform hydrological modelling (e.g., HEC-HMS, Raven) and assessment (e.g., flood frequency analysis, regional analysis); incorporate climate change into predictive models.

Assist in environmental flow needs (EFN) assessments, fish habitat loss assessments, habitat offsetting studies, and designs related to habitat compensation plans.

Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work; deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget.

Provide technical leadership and mentor junior and intermediate staff.

Interact with clients, environmental regulators, and community stakeholders.

Contribute to proposal development, client presentations, and business growth initiatives.

Consistently demonstrate and promote policies and procedures for HSSE, including client‑specific training when applicable.

Capabilities and Credentials

Registration as a professional geoscientist or engineer (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or qualifications to obtain this registration at the start of employment.

Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, including exchange of technical information with clients, engineers, scientists, government agencies, and non‑technical communication to the public.

Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence; desire to grow in a challenging environment that fosters self‑improvement through leadership, mentoring, and diverse experience.

Leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance.

Education and Experience

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Geoscience, Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 10 years of related experience.

Experience with GoldSim, R, and hydrological datasets (e.g., ERA5) would be an asset.

Mining experience and experience with incorporation of climate change effects into hydrologic assessments.

Location Primary location: Burnaby, British Columbia (or other Canadian office within British Columbia as flexible). Travel required to meet client and stakeholder needs.

Pay Range

Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC: Min Salary $112,300– Max Salary $168,500

Locations in Lower Mainland - BC: Min Salary $119,000– Max Salary $178,600
