Join a team thats naturally committed to the environment Your Prospect Stantec is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist or EIT to join our Site Investigation, Remediation & Response (SIR) team in British Columbia. In this role, youll be directly involved in site investigations and remediation programs across a broad range of sectors, including provincial and federal agencies, ports and harbours, transportation infrastructure, and industrial and commercial developments. Youll work closely with intermediate and senior staff in both the field and office, gaining practical experience while building the technical foundation needed for a successful career in contaminated sites practice. This role is well suited to someone who: Enjoys working outdoors in dynamic environments Is eager to learn and take initiative Values teamwork and safety Wants to build longterm technical depth in environmental consulting Your Key Responsibilities As part of the SIR team, your work will include a diverse mix of field and office responsibilities, such as: Supporting and implementing Phase I, II, and III ESAs, Stage 1 PSI, Stage 2 PSI/DSI, and remediation programs Conducting soil, soil vapour, sediment, groundwater, and surface water sampling Developing sitespecific health and safety plans and helping lead field programs with safety as the top priority Producing clear, accurate field notes and documentation that meet data quality objectives Supervising and coordinating with subcontractors (e.g., drillers, hydrovac operators, utility locators, heavy equipment operators) Assisting with BC Contaminated Sites Regulation applications, including Approvals in Principle and Certificates of Compliance Managing and organizing field data using specialized equipment and software Supporting project managers with scopes, budgets, schedules, and field logistics Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Stantec Canada, including geotechnical, water resources, atmospheric sciences, and indoor environments groups Actively contributing toand strengtheninga strong health and safety culture Youll be exposed to a wide range of site conditions, regulatory frameworks, and technical challengesaccelerating your learning curve and professional development. Youll thrive in this role if you have: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, ideally within British Columbia Previous experience in contaminated sites investigation (a strong asset) A collaborative mindset and comfort working with senior and intermediate staff Strong written and verbal communication skills A genuine interest in field work, with flexibility to travel for assignments The ability to work independently and confidently with subcontractors An understanding of provincial and federal environmental regulations and guidelines Eligibility for, or progress toward, a professional designation (e.g., P. Eng., P. Geo., P. Ag.) is considered an asset Education and Experience A diploma or degree from a technical college or university in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Engineering Previous experience in contaminated sites investigation is a strong asset Possession of, or eligibility for, a professional designation (e.g., P. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
