The Opportunity The Legal Counsel will specialize in contract management and support the Legal function by providing day-to-day legal assistance across a range of corporate, commercial, and operational matters. The role is suited for a lawyer with approximately 1–3 years of post-call experience seeking in‑house exposure in a dynamic, multi‑jurisdictional organization. The position is a one‑year fixed‑term contract at the Vaughan office with a hybrid work arrangement. What You’ll Do Assisting with drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements, including NDAs, service agreements, supply agreements, and vendor contracts. Providing practical legal guidance on routine corporate and operational matters. Conducting legal research and preparing summaries, presentations, and internal guidance materials on applicable laws, regulations, and legal risks. Assisting with corporate governance activities, including maintenance of corporate records and support for board and committee materials. Supporting compliance initiatives and internal legal processes, including policy development and implementation. Assisting in managing litigation, disputes, and regulatory matters, coordinating with external counsel where required. Collaborating with internal teams such as Procurement, Finance, HR, and Operations on legal matters impacting their functions. Supporting other legal projects and initiatives as assigned. What You’ll Bring Law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited institution. Member in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society (Ontario preferred). Approximately 1–3 years of relevant legal experience (in‑house or private practice), with exposure to corporate or commercial law. Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Solid interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders. High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
