Full‑Time Mechanical Calculation Engineer – St‑Bruno, Quebec, Canada Take on a new challenge and apply your structural design and mechanical analysis expertise in a cutting‑edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative and collaborative teammates.
You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the performance, safety, and compliance of critical components for passenger rail vehicles through advanced simulation and engineering analyses. Day‑to‑day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (structural integrity, supply chain, design, and project teams), contribute to risk assessments, and support qualification testing, and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of creating and validating finite element models of railway vehicle components, but also contribute to design reviews and provide engineering recommendations to optimize performance and manufacturability.
Responsibilities
Define qualification and validation plans in accordance with technical specifications and standards
Develop specifications for purchased components and collaborate with supply chain teams
Perform advanced mechanical analyses, including stress analysis, fatigue life prediction, buckling, and more
Prepare clear and structured calculation reports aligned with project milestones
Present and explain technical results to internal stakeholders and customers
Support qualification testing by preparing procedures, attending on‑site tests, and analyzing results
Participate in project activities such as risk assessments, gate reviews, and cost estimations
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), with a focus on structural design and/or mechanical analysis
Membership in OIQ or CPI (or eligibility)
Strong knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and experience with tools such as Altair HyperWorks, ANSYS, or equivalent
Solid background in strength of materials and structural analysis methodologies
Experience in the transportation or railway industry is an asset
Structured, autonomous, and solution‑oriented mindset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including with external stakeholders
Team player with a proactive approach to learning and knowledge sharing
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a matrix and project‑driven environment
Fluent in French with professional proficiency in English
