About Us Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia. In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins. Job Summary The Precast Maintenance & Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, reliability, and lifecycle performance across manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for analyzing equipment performance, developing and optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that reduce downtime and improve asset efficiency. Working closely with maintenance, production, and engineering teams, the engineer will ensure that maintenance strategies are proactive, data-driven, and aligned with operational goals and safety standards. Responsibilities - Lead the development and continuous improvement of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime - Analyze equipment performance, failure trends, and maintenance data to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions - Define and monitor key maintenance KPIs (e.g., uptime, MTBF, MTTR, schedule compliance) to drive performance improvements - Maintain and enhance CMMS data integrity, including asset hierarchies, maintenance histories, and work order quality - Develop standardized maintenance procedures, job plans, and asset care strategies in collaboration with maintenance teams and OEMs - Support and lead root-cause analysis investigations (RCA) for critical equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions - Collaborate with operations to align maintenance planning with production requirements while minimizing disruption - Provide technical support for troubleshooting of complex mechanical and process-related issues - Assist in the planning, design, and execution of capital and equipment upgrade projects with a focus on maintainability and lifecycle cost - Work with suppliers and OEMs to optimize spare parts strategies, maintenance intervals, and equipment performance - Apply continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., TPM, RCM, Lean) to enhance maintenance effectiveness and asset reliability Identify and implement opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and cost performance within maintenance operations - Technical Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline - Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, maintenance practices, and manufacturing environments - Demonstrated understanding of maintenance and reliability methodologies (e.g., RCM, TPM, condition-based monitoring) - Experience working with CMMS platforms for planning, scheduling, and tracking maintenance activities - Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; experience with BIM tools (e.g., Tekla Structures), simulation tools (e.g., Siemens Technomatics), and MRP systems is an asset - Ability to interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, and OEM maintenance specifications - Previous experience or co-op placement in precast concrete or heavy manufacturing is considered an asset Business Requirements - Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach - Experience developing and managing KPIs related to maintenance and operational performance - Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment - Cultural Requirements - Ability to work effectively with a unionized, hourly workforce in a plant environment - Strong communication and interpersonal skills across multiple disciplines and levels of the organization - Team-oriented, team-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence As a member of the OSCO Construction Group, Strescon Limited offers a comprehensive compensation package including health and dental coverage, life insurance, RRSP and tax-free savings account options.
