What you''ll do Responsibilities What you will be doing You will provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientist and Research Specialists. This involves assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies. On a daily basis, you may be working on one or more research projects. This position may require fieldwork to support data acquisition which may require the applicant to work in both indoor and outdoor environments. What you''ll need Qualifications The minimum educational qualification for this position is an advanced diploma and/or a degree specializing in geomatics and forestry]. A Masters degree in Remote Sensing would be considered an asset. A NSCC-COGS Certificate in Forest Geomatics and Biometrics Technician Course from COGS would be considered an asset You have at least 2 year of professional research experience and practical field work experience. You have practical experience with Remote Sensing & GIS software including Arc GIS Pro as well as programming in Python. You have experience with machine learning algorithms for processing raster and point cloud data related to forest biomass metrics. You have experience with processing topographic lidar and topo-bathymetric lidar datasets. You have a minimum of two years of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork. Occupational experience that includes managing projects and outside clients, conducting fieldwork and analysis in the office and report writing. You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work You have good oral and written communication skills for generating technical reports and peer reviewed publications Relevant Skills and Knowledge You demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion You possess excellent interpersonal skills and are able to interact at all levels of an organization You are known for your superior customer service skills and are able to create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interaction Your superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environment You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in Collecting and processing lidar data from a number of platforms: tripod, mobile, drone and aircraft mounted sensors. You have the ability to write python code and automate processing routines..
