Warehouse Assistant Manager / Forklift Operator (Sarnia)

Position Overview We are looking for a dependable and hands-on Warehouse Assistant Manager to help oversee day-to-day warehouse operations in a small, busy warehouse environment. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, safety-focused, comfortable leading a small team, and experienced operating a forklift. The successful candidate will assist with shipping, receiving, inventory control, staff coordination, forklift operation, and general warehouse organization. This is a working leadership role, meaning the Assistant Manager will both supervise and actively participate in warehouse duties. Key Responsibilities - Assist in managing daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, picking, packing, loading, and unloading. - Supervise and support a warehouse team of approximately 5 staff. - Operate a forklift safely and efficiently. - Ensure orders are picked, packed, shipped, and received accurately and on time. - Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and secure working conditions. - Help coordinate staff duties, priorities, and workflow throughout the day. - Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory counts and stock accuracy. - Receive incoming shipments and verify products against paperwork. - Prepare outgoing shipments and ensure proper documentation. - Assist with training, coaching, and supporting warehouse staff. - Enforce company safety procedures and proper equipment use. - Communicate with management regarding staffing, inventory, shipping issues, equipment needs, or operational concerns. - Step in for the Warehouse Manager when required. Qualifications - Previous warehouse experience required. - Forklift driving experience required. - Forklift certification preferred. - Previous supervisory, lead hand, or assistant manager experience is an asset. - Strong organizational and communication skills. - Ability to lead a small team in a hands-on environment. - Good attention to detail and accuracy with orders and inventory. - Comfortable using basic paperwork, shipping documents, and inventory systems. - Ability to lift, move, and handle warehouse materials as required. - Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently. - Strong commitment to workplace safety. Physical Requirements - Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the shift. - Ability to lift up to approximately 50 lbs as needed. - Comfortable working in a warehouse environment. - Able to safely operate material-handling equipment.
