Description
Madsen Mechanical Services is a specialty industrial service provider focused on the precision maintenance and overhaul of rotating equipment. We specialize in the overhaul and maintenance of critical rotating equipment where precision is the baseline, not the exception. We’re looking for a Millwright Apprentice who values technical accuracy over "good enough." If you have a natural aptitude for mechanical systems and want to learn the trade from the ground up - from major shop teardowns to high-precision field alignments - this is your entry point to working on theequipment that keeps industry moving.
Job Description As a Millwright Apprentice at Madsen Mechanical Services, you will be immersed in the precision maintenance and repair of industrial rotating equipment. You will be expected to master the use of precision tools, interpret complex technical drawings, and apply mechanical logic to solve high-stakes equipment failures.
Precision Measurement
Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, Vernier calipers, dials, and gauges, for inspecting component wear and verifying tolerances during the overhaul process.
Hands‑on involvement in the teardown, cleaning, and reassembly of steam turbines, compressors, Gimpel valves, and gearboxes. This could include assisting with final installation, alignment, and commissioning to ensure post‑overhaul reliability.
Shop Operations&Tooling
Competency in using hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, honing, stoning, and setting up parts in lathes, mills, and presses to achieve precise fits and finishes.
Technical Literacy
Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, manuals, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to execute repair sequences and document component conditions.
Professional Aptitude
A meticulous approach to work and a proactive willingness to learn. We are looking for candidates with the grit required to handle time‑sensitive teardowns and solve complex problems.
Ambition to Grow
A desire to advance your career and make a meaningful contribution to our team's growth and success.
Daily Operations As a Millwright Apprentice at Madsen Mechanical Service, your primary focus is supporting the overhaul of critical rotating assets through every stage of the repair cycle. You will follow journeyperson instructions to execute the teardown, evaluation, and reassembly of industrial equipment, ensuring all components are organized and labeled. Your role involves performing cleaning, inspecting, measuring, and basic machine shop tasks– while accurately recording "As-Received" and "As-Shipped" measurements to assist in the documentation of component conditions. You will assist in the movement of heavy assets using shop cranes, forklifts, and rigging hardware. Beyond shop work, you are responsible for field mobilization by prepping tool trailers and equipment for site‑specific installation and alignment tasks. You are expected to maintain the technical integrity of the shop environment by ensuring all precision instruments are cared for and work bays remain compliant with safety and organizational standards.

Valid Ontario G Driver’s License (or equivalent) and a clean abstract.
Competitive hourly wage based on apprenticeship term, plus overtime and field premiums.
Structured path toward Journeyperson status (433A) with opportunities for specialized training.
A technical, safety‑first culture that prioritizes mechanical integrity and professional discipline.
Technical training and mentorship from experienced millwrights, machinists, and engineers.
