Position Child Care Director– St Anne YMCA, 1000 The Rapids Pkwy, Sarnia, ON N7S 6K3
Start Date: Available Immediately
Compensation
Members of the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario
– starting at $60,723 depending on experience (includes government wage enhancements)
Additional compensation includes:
Complementary YMCA personal membership to Health&Fitness facilities and discounts on YMCA child care and camp programs
Vacation entitlement pursuant to employment standards regulations and up to 12 paid personal days annually
Benefits package and pension (applicable with position/contract length)
Complimentary access to wellness and counselling services
Opportunity to contribute to meaningful impact in the lives of children and youth
Schedule
7.5‑hour workday, Monday through Friday (no weekends)
37.5‑hour work week
Required to rotate shifts covering full operating hours of the centre
Responsibilities
Oversee and support day‑to‑day operations of the centre, including staffing, family engagement, financial matters, inclusive programming, and YMCA quality outcomes
Ensure program policies and procedures comply with the regulations of the Program, the Ministry of Education, the Child Care Early Years Act (2014), YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, Public Health, and Fire Regulations for licensed childcare centres
Lead implementation of an inclusive play‑based curriculum that includes How Does Learning Happen® and the YMCA Curriculum
Evaluate program quality using audit tools, quality initiatives, and required records for compliance
Demonstrate YMCA Core Values—Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, and Caring—in all daily interactions
Implement, practice, and mentor daily the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario Program Statement
Maintain accurate records, files, and forms required by the Ministry of Education and YMCA of Southwestern Ontario
Liaise with parents and community partners in a professional manner, maintaining an inviting and inclusive environment
Oversee all child registrations, monitor enrollment, and maintain occupancy goals of the centre
Manage the centre budget, including financial forecasting, expense reporting, and payroll requirements
Manage human resource requirements for employees as needed and assist with onboarding new staff
Collaborate with the Directors of YMCA Programs
Education&Skills Qualifications
Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a childcare environment
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or commitment to complete within three months)
Minimum age 18 with a current, satisfactory Vulnerable Criminal Reference Check (less than 6 months old)
Up‑to‑date immunizations required by Public Health, Ministry of Education, and YMCA of Southwestern Ontario
Physical ability to perform light to medium effort, including lifting up to 20 kg, bending, and stooping
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Demonstrated communication skills with employees and members
