Electrical Engineer (IE) – CF Industries Job Summary You will report to the IE Engineering Supervisor and provide on‑site technical support for capital electrical projects and daily plant activities. The role includes maintaining electrical systems up to 27.6kV, supporting reliability initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Responsibilities Provide electrical support on daily plant activities, projects, and I/E reliability. Prepare and review cost estimates, studies, designs, and preventive maintenance strategies. Support, promote, and participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs. Work within applicable codes and standards to maintain, install, commission, and de‑commission electrical systems and equipment up to 27.6kV, including substations, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, drives, motors, generators, and instrumentation. Maintain the Electrical System model (SKM) and perform periodic third‑party validations. Provide technical advice and review the development of engineering work packages, preventive maintenance plans, SOPs, and hazard assessments related to the electrical system. Represent the IE Engineering Group on the Reliability Leadership Team and participate in downtime investigations to identify root causes. Respond and support troubleshooting in a 24/7 plant environment and collaborate with Maintenance and Operations on equipment performance and preventive maintenance strategies. Serve as a Senior Authorized Person for the electrical system, authoring, reviewing, or approving operating orders and hot electrical work permits. Develop and manage single‑discipline electrical projects, including requisitioning materials, managing budgets, field coordination, and following MOC protocol. Liaise with electrical authorities (e.g., Hydro One, OEB, IESO, ESA). Qualifications Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. At least 5years of related experience in a manufacturing workplace. Knowledge of national codes, industry standards, and government regulations for the installation of electrical systems and equipment in a chemical industrial setting. Experience with electrical engineering design, calculation, and analysis for chemical manufacturing. Experience with electrical system modeling using ETAP or SKM software. Experience in Safety Instrumented Systems (IEC 61511 or equivalent) and safety life‑cycle analysis. Experience with microprocessor‑based protective relays (SEL, Siprotec, MP‑3000s) and related networking. Knowledge of protection schemes (fast bus protection, fast bus transfer, islanding, dual comparison blocking). Experience with hazardous area classification design and applicable regulations. Supervisory Relationships Position reports to: Engineering Supervisor – I/E. Subordinate positions: None. Salary Estimated base pay: $121,700–$152,700 annually. Actual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and scope of the role.
