Job Summary Mastermind Youth Foundation is seeking a versatile, systems-oriented Prototype Engineering Technologist to support the development of robotics competition platforms, agricultural technologies, interactive STEM kits, and electromechanical learning tools. You’ll work collaboratively across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to build youth-focused systems that are safe, scalable, and inspiring. Key Responsibilities Interactive & Automated Systems - Build, integrate, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems for hands‑on learning and real‑world challenge environments - Prototype mechanisms that respond to sensors, movement, or environmental triggers - Support iterative testing, refinement, and documentation of system components and field‑ready prototypes Educational & Experiential Technology - Assemble and prototype interactive kits that combine motion, electronics, and coding for classroom or community programs - Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop modular systems that demonstrate applied engineering principles - Validate durability, safety, and usability of components intended for frequent handling and youth engagement Field & Infrastructure Systems - Assist in designing and installing electromechanical features for live demonstrations, testbeds, or small‑scale operational environments - Integrate timing systems, feedback loops, lighting, and visual indicators into physical layouts - Support setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance of field systems that operate in varied conditions Collaboration & Execution - Work under the direction of the program lead and collaborate with product designers, engineers, and technologists - Translate design briefs, sketches, and CAD models into functional prototypes and production‑ready assemblies - Provide practical feedback on system performance, reliability, and user interaction Ideal Candidate - Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Robotics/Mechatronics Technology or related applied engineering field - Strong hands‑on skills in mechanical assembly, embedded systems, wiring, and control integration - Proficient with CAD tools, microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and basic programming (C/C++, Python) - Experience with prototyping, automation, environmental sensing, or youth‑focused technology is an asset - Bilingual (English/French) and culturally responsive preferred - Reliable, collaborative, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in quick‑iteration prototype environments Compensation & Work Conditions - Pay Rate: $18-$25 per hour - Expected Hours: 35-40 hours - Work Location: On-site in Sarnia-Lambton.
