DUTIES: Under general supervision of the Manager of Services:
Provide employment support to adults and youth with an intellectual disability and/or autism. This includes, but is not limited to:
Assessments
Employment readiness training
Job coaching and follow up
Recruit community employment by:
Making cold calls to employers, following up and closing
Job carving
Creating innovative marketing materials to be used for various audiences
Promoting the benefits of the program through individual meetings and group presentations
Negotiate terms with employers in particular contractual situations
Promote and assist in the development of natural supports within the work environment
Promote the department to the public via media, schools, group presentations, conferences, etc.
Actively participate in outside agency committee work such as Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, career fairs, trade shows etc.
Work within the guidelines stipulated by various legislation, e.g., Employment Standards Act, ODSP– Employment, etc.
Assist with the development and implementation of the Summer Supported Employment program and other grant programs
Work in a variety of settings and working conditions, which may vary from office settings to environments with varying temperatures, levels of cleanliness, etc.
Promote safe work practices in all work settings
Ensure data collection is reported and analyzed as required
Participate with support plans related to employment and ensure follow‑up is complete as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree or diploma in Business, Marketing/Sales and/or Related Education or Experience
Demonstrated marketing/sales, group presentation/public speaking skills
Experience networking and the existence of a strong business network
Ability to work independently with volunteers, agencies, businesses, industries, families and advocates
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to achieve employment targets by being results oriented
Superior time management and organizational skills; able to deal with constantly changing priorities, peak work periods and various program priority demands
Ability to work varied hours and adaptability to various working conditions and locations in accordance with supports required by an individual
Must have a valid G driver’s license and vehicle to provide transportation for self and others as needed
Must be available to deal with emergency situations outside regular working hours
ASSETS:
Experience in sales and securing paid employment opportunities
Previous employment coaching experience
Varied and relevant work experience and knowledge of community resources, labour market, and employment services to individuals facing employment barriers
Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements in business and industry
Experience in supporting adults and youth who have an intellectual disability and/or autism
