NORDIK Institute is an innovative, community-based research and knowledge sharing hub dedicated to supporting the CSAA’s mission in supporting the 85 communities impacted by the Shingwauk Residential School through “sharing, healing and learning”. We are currently seeking a Technical Development Research Officer (Database and Dashboard) to provide support to a number of initiatives under the supervision of the Community Support Team Lead/Waa' Naadmaaged.Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate administrative procedures and review, evaluate and implement new procedures for coordination, procurement, development and implementation of language services for the Shingwauk database and dashboard to improve accessibility Establish work priorities for technical team and support staff, and ensure deadlines are met and cultural protocols and procedures are followedAdminister policies and procedures related to the release of records in processing requests under government access to information and privacy legislation for Survivors of Shingwauk Indian Residential School Coordinate and plan for the services, such as accommodation, relocations, equipment, supplies, forms, disposal of assets, parking, maintenance and security servicesConduct analyses and oversee administrative operations related to budgeting, contracting and project planning and management processes Assist in preparation of operating budget and maintain inventory and budgetary controls Assemble data and prepare periodic and special reports, manuals and correspondenceMay supervise records management technicians and related staff Attend regular supervisory and NORDIK Team meetings (including 2-3 meetings per month for the entire NORDIK team). Attend professional development training and activities provided by NORDIK. Qualifications
A Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering or closely related field is strongly desired. Experience in a senior clerical or executive secretarial position related to office administration, or related field (including administration-focused research positions), is required. Programming Languages
- Python (Proficient), SQL(Familiar), C/C++ (Familiar)
Excellent understanding of Backend languages such as Python Advanced debugging and profiling Sound experience in any of these Backend languages is mandatory Experience in Unit/Integration Testing Understanding of front-end coding. (Adaptive design, lazy loading, caching, build pipelines and packaging)
GenAI&ML
- Data Science, LLMs (OpenAI, BERT, Llama), RAG, Fine‑tuning, PyTorch, TensorFlow
Proficient to AL/ML and Deep learning models
Back end&APIs
- FastAPI (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), FastAPI, PySpark MLOps/DevOps&Cloud
- Docker, Kubernetes (OpenShift/OCP, EKS), CI/CD (Git, Jenkins), AWS (Lambda, SageMaker)
Familiar in cloud technologies such as GCP. Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
Strong written and oral communication skills Strong organization and time management skills Demonstrated experience working with community-serving teams Assets
Experience working in a projectized environment and/or non-profit organization Experience working with Indigenous communities, Survivors of Indian Residential Schools, and/or other trauma-facing demographics Experience or training in business and/or public administration Application Deadline
