Hairstylist Job Description Main Responsibilities Consult with clients about hairstyles, treatments, and hair care needs Cut, trim, and shape hair using scissors, razors, and clippers Color, highlight, bleach, or chemically treat hair Style hair for daily wear, special occasions, weddings, or events Shampoo, condition, and apply hair treatments Recommend hair products and maintenance routines Keep tools, workstations, and salon areas clean and sanitized Schedule appointments and maintain client records Stay updated on current beauty and fashion trends Required Skills Creativity and artistic ability Solid communication and customer service skills Attention to detail Knowledge of hair types, textures, and treatments Time management Hand-eye coordination and stamina for standing long hours Threading, waxing, facials are an added advantage Education & Training Completion of cosmetology or hairstyling training program Hairstylist or cosmetology license/certification Apprenticeship or salon experience is often preferred Salary Pay varies depending on experience, and clientele.
