The successful
Product Development/Design Engineer
will join a team of dedicated engineers with the goal of pushing the edge of what is possible with professional audio products. Success in this role requires a strong interest in
product design, acoustics, physics, design for manufacture
and the drive to perform in a competitive industry.
Duties&Responsibilities Product Development
Design and prototype mechanical components, enclosures, rigging systems, and integration hardware for new and existing products.
Actively contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, supporting cross-functional teams through all phases from design validation to production launch.
Support product design and development with emphasis on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to ensure seamless transition from concept to scalable production.
Participate in design reviews and failure analysis, using tools such as FEA and root cause analysis to ensure structural integrity under rigging, vibration, and environmental stresses.
Maintain organized design documentation, revision control, and contribute to the development of internal best practices for mechanical design and product lifecycle management.
Ensure all designs meet applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards (e.g., CE, RoHS, rigging certifications).
Automation and Production
Participate in the design and implementation of automation equipment for production assembly.
Support continuous improvement of existing product lines through design revisions, cost optimization, material substitution, and sustainability‑focused initiatives.
Design and prototype production fixtures.
Design parts storage and material handling systems.
Liaise with external suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to validate tooling, machining, and assembly feasibility while maintaining Adamson’s high‑quality standards.
Infrastructure
Design and develop infrastructure for building and operations in conjunction with other engineers and contractors such as:
Air handling
Compressed air systems
N2 systems
Other duties and responsibilities as determined from time to time.
Skills and Qualifications
Completion of a minimum of bachelor's degree in Physics or Engineering.
Minimum 3 years of similar work experience design engineering.
Proven experience bringing finished products to market.
Good sense of design with some related experience.
Working knowledge of a wide variety of CNC machines would be an asset.
Experience with FEA / BEM Software (COMSOL, Ansys, etc.).
Familiarity with acoustic principals is an asset (can be learned).
Able to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong analytical, computer and problem‑solving skills.
