Laboratory Technologist (Port Perry)

Laboratory Technologist Status: Regular Full Time Department: Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine) Program: Laboratory Services Location: Lakeridge Health Port Perry & Oshawa Wage: $36.84 - $50.24 per hour Duties and Responsibilities - Perform routine and specialized test procedures in Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank - Organize workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality - Observe, troubleshoot and report problems with methods, equipment, etc. to supervisor - Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work area - Follow established safety and infection control procedures - Participate in student/staff training programs, as required - Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications - Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS) - Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) - Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Hematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry - In-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships - Working and technical knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical equipment required for routine and specialized testing - Proven problem solving skills, ability to recognize problems, identify cause, create alternatives and determine solutions - Effective communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to exercise independent judgement, deductive reasoning with attention to detail - Ability to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations - Proven organizational skills with ability to assess requests and prioritize to ensure prompt patient care - Physically capable of bending, lifting, turning frequently during shift - Recent experience in a Core Laboratory (preferred) - Satisfactory performance record - Commitment to core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy - Understanding and commitment to Lakeridge Health's safety programs and practices Conditions of Employment - Terms and conditions in accordance with Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348 - Successful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months - Must complete a Pre-employment Health Assessment #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pe3gn
