Job Description We are looking for an eager self-starter with good time management and organizational skills. Someone who is willing to learn and improve upon current skills and be proactive on the job. The ideal candidate is in their 3rd - 5th term. In this role you are efficient with hand tools, understand job progression and workflow, and are able to anticipate future problems and proactively solve them with assistance. You will be working with a licensed journeyman to learn about the technical aspects of the electrical trade and gaining knowledge about how to manage your work. As your skills increase, you will be expected to take more initiative with the goal of managing small projects from planning to completion. The successful candidate enjoys physical labour and working in various environments indoor and outdoor and has an affinity for learning new skills. Other areas of work include high voltage powerline work. The work offered is fast-paced and offers a lot of variety. Duties & Responsibilities: - Interpret electrical code specifications - Tool and Truck checks every morning - Own or access to reliable transportation - Able to lift heavy material up to 50lbs - Ability to pass a criminal background check - Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards - Able to adopt and follow processes procedures - Deciding on the best methods for visualizing, measuring, and estimating work as appropriate for the job situation - Deciding when additional materials are needed to complete required work - Defining and labeling wires, conduits, and apparatus to avoid shock/ electrocution - Deciding on best routing options for conduit, wires, and other systems - Attending Required Meetings, safety meetings and professional development sessions - Loading materials, lifts, trailers, and other equipment Specific Skills/ Requirements: - Interpret electrical code specifications - Able to troubleshoot problems onsite/ anticipate problems - Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components - Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance - Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators, and reactors - Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, etc. - Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records - Ensure that the work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times and check the work area for such hazards upon arrival and when departing each area of work - Work in a safe manner in accordance with legislated and company health and safety standards - Perform other related duties as assigned or required - Fire Alarm certification is considered an asset - Valid DZ license is considered an asset What does Vickery Technical Offer? - Diverse and exciting customer base - Growing company with consistent work - Continuous training and skills improvement - Career advancement opportunities - Competitive Wages - Adaptable Work Hours - Overtime Opportunities - Uniforms Provided - Company Pension - Health Benefits Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Apprenticeship Pay: $24.00-$35.00 per hour Benefits: - Company pension - Dental care - Extended health care - On-site parking - Vision care Experience: - electrical: 3 years (required) Licence/Certification: - Driver's License (required) - Fire Alarm Technician (preferred) - DZ license (preferred) Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pso5s
