POSITION NOTICE (External Only) COMPETITION 24-046 Applications are invited for the following position: AREA: Clinical Services CLASSIFICATION: Physiotherapist – 1 Permanent Part-Time Position POSITION SCOPE: Accountable to the Director of Clinical Services, the Physiotherapist is responsible for the provision of assessment, therapeutic interventions, preventative approaches, and education related to assisting referred clients at CSS to maintain and/or regain optimal levels of movement, activity, and function. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, and a member of a robust inter-disciplinary Clinical Services team, this position shares a full time PTA/OTA with Occupational Therapy (3 FTEs) and Speech-Language Pathology (.4 FTE). This position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to support clients who will be transitioning from facility-based living to smaller residences and the anticipated expansion of CSS’s Community Options Program. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, but work hours and schedule are negotiable. Ideally, the individual will work at least one day per week (7.5 hours), but the position is funded for up to 45 hours per pay period (equal to 6 days). RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assess referred clients and ensure the implementation of evidence-based approaches which lead to effective physiotherapy intervention. - Complete ongoing reassessments with adjustment of treatment plans as necessary. - Collaborate with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to achieve desired outcomes for clients. - Provide consultation and education regarding client mobility methods and related equipment. - Offer written and/or visual information that will assist with the provision of quality care. - Attend Individual Program Plan (IPP), Team, and Committee meetings as appropriate. - Maintain required client documentation and physiotherapy statistics, and prepare reports as needed. - Regularly participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date on new approaches in physiotherapy and other topics relevant to work at CSS. - Contribute to program development and evaluation to improve overall services for clients. - Co-mentor/supervise a full-time PTA/OTA position shared with Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology. - Other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited university program in Physiotherapy. In possession of a full practicing license from the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists and a member in good standing. Current membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Experience working with persons with disabilities in residential settings an asset. Demonstrated commitment to the values inherent in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to achieve desired client outcomes and organizational strategic objectives. Demonstrated professionalism and accountability in a fast-paced team setting. Demonstrated initiative to obtain new knowledge, enhance skills, and review current literature on a continuing basis. Commitment to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to clients, staff, and CSS. Exemplary attendance, punctuality, and work practices. Ability to read, research, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and other employees. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work with basic math concepts such as: sums, products, percentages, and ratios and apply them to practical situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Analytical and critical thinking skills that enhance problem-solving and decision-making, and the ability to set priorities in an ever-changing environment.
