Guidance Counsellor Location: Sherbrooke, Quebec School/Department: Alexander Galt Regional High School Workload: 35 hours per week Status: Replacement – until June 6th, 2027 Annual salary (prorated to workload): $55,282 – $97,963 X jobs % Supervisor: Director of Complementary Services Nature of the work Under the supervision of the director, the Guidance Counsellor provides assistance to students on the choice of their educational profile and career orientation. Through group and individual counseling sessions and built on students’ academic history, the counsellor will advise students on their individual educational and career paths. He or she will collaborate in the organization of school‑to‑work activities, study sessions, and promote both in‑school and external school activities related to career orientation. The Guidance Counsellor also provides support to help students solve problems encountered in learning and social work environments. This could involve aptitude, interests, motivation, and personality evaluations to develop individual action plans. Collaboration with school personnel, parents, teaching institutions, the business world and government agencies is an essential component of this position.
